Tetora: Time to introduce ourselves too!
I’m a first year in the karate club, Tetora Nagumo! Taishou’s the senpai mentoring me! Nice to be working with you, everyone!
Makishima: …Taishou?
Tetora: Ah, I mean Kuro Kiryu-senpai here! He’s the captain of the karate club, and my role model as a “man among men”!
Onoda: Captain of the karate club? H-he does seem very strong…
Kuro: Hm, are ya scared?
Well, that’s how it is. I’m Kuro Kiryu, a third year. Happy to work with you.
Subaru: Next is me~☆ I’m Subaru Akehoshi, with the character for “morning”, and…

Manami: “Ake” for “morning” and “hoshi” for star, so “morning star”. “Subaru” is in katakana, right?
Subaru: Yes! I was talking about it on the way there, after all~☆
I thought you weren’t listening but you remembered it, Manamin!
So, everyone introduced themselves, right? In that case, let’s…

Chiaki: He~y over there, sorry I’m late!
Subaru: Chi-chan-senpai? Could it be you’re part of the experience session too?
Chiaki: That’s right. Isara mentioned it during basketball practice and it seemed interesting so I applied!
By the way Akehoshi, you should show up to practice more.
To be honest, it’s lonely without you…
Come sweat your youth away with us!
Subaru: I~ll refrain from that, thanks. I have to take Daikichi on walks and Trickstar has lots of lessons so I don’t have the time!
Chiaki: Are we that low on your priorities!?
Well, fine. I won’t give up though, Akehoshi! We’ll strengthen our bond during this race!
Kuro: Hey, Morisawa. I got that you’re participating in the race, but you’re super late. Don’t you think you should explain to us why?
Chiaki: Naturally. Again, I’m really sorry for being late, everyone!
The thing is, on the way there I came across a granny having trouble carrying heavy luggage so I helped her with that.
Then, when we arrived at her house she said she’d make tea for me and I couldn’t bring myself to refuse… So I took her up on her offer.
I’m such an idiot! Everyone, don’t hesitate to beat me up until you’re satisfied!
Tetora: This kind of story sounds just like something you’d do, Taichou… I won’t punch you but it is rude to be late…
Onoda: Still, I admire how gallant and cool you are!
Chiaki: Thanks! I’m the man with the burning heart, Chiaki Morisawa! A third year at Yumenosaki, captain of the basketball club and Ryuseitai’s Ryusei Red!
And you are? Fuhahaha! ☆
Kuro: Ah… We won’t make any progress like this. We’re all here now, so let’s start quickly.
Toudou: Agreed! Since you’re riding a road bike for the first time we’ll explain a few things before we get going.
The kind of bike you’re probably the most familiar with is the granny bike.
They’re used mainly for transporting groceries or the like, while road bikes are made specifically for racing.
For that purpose, they weigh a lot less. Check out these road bikes we brought for the experience session and see for yourself!
Subaru: Ooh, they’re so light! Plus look at how cool and shiny they are!
Chiaki: Yeah. These road bikes and jerseys here were courtesy of Tenshouin if I recall correctly.
Kuro: He was really interested in the bicycle race idea, so he got very invested in the preparations.

Onoda: By Tenshouin, do you mean the student council president person?
He was concerned we’d be tired after today and apparently wanted to prepare a hotel for us… So if possible I’d like to thank him in person.
Subaru: It would have been cool if Eichi-senpai participated in person, huh? I feel like he would probably be able to handle a race~
Toudou: I’m not sure about that, Subaru Akehoshi-kun! Bicycle races aren’t that easy, you know?
There are lots of things I’d like to teach you but we don’t have much time since it’s an experience session. Let’s keep talking while we ride.
Luckily, there are four of us on each side so each of us will teach you individually. Let’s split up accordingly and start by getting on the bikes.
Makishima: Hmm, in that case come over here, you two from the karate club.

Tetora: Osu! Makishima-san… no, Makishima-senpai! What should I start with!?
Makishima: Well, first, go on the left of the bike, grab the handles and use the brakes.
Kuro: …Is it safe to get on the bikes right away?
Makishima: Since we’re nearby, we’ll explain things accordingly as we go, so don’t worry.
Onoda: Um! It was sudden for me at first too, but I ended up being able to ride with a road bike in the end!
Makishima: You’re a special case, Sakamichi…
Onoda: Y-you’re right…
Makishima: You don’t hear a lot about people who switch from a granny bike to a road bike mid-race, after all.
Kuro: Oh, did you enter the club as a beginner? ‘Cause I heard you’ve won the interhigh a while back…
Onoda: T-that’s right.
Kuro: For real? You’re amazing.

Onoda: No, not at all! Plus, the reason I could win was because everyone on Sohoku’s team did their very best.
It was my first interhigh and there were a lot of hardships to overcome, but even then I had to honor the team and do all I could to win, that’s all…
That’s why I was so overjoyed to stand on the podium with everyone.
Makishima: …
Kuro: That’s a nice team you have there.
Onoda: It is!
